Scream Effects Co were approached by Bruce productions to become production designers for their new production: Gruesome the Rock musical.

We were tasked with creating a new strong ident for the show reusing the existing typeface logo which was created by the producer. This was achieved by the adding is to a copper plate sign to frame the logo and hint towards the steampunk styling the show was going towards.  

In addition to the logo a full key visual brand guide was created and utilized though out all marketing materials and printed medias such as of merchandising and in the shows programme.

The shows programme was also created by us with a quick turn around of only 1 week this included the creation of new assets and full programme photography and final design.

The set was designed in conjunction to what the director and producer wanted from the set with a raised platform for the band and somewhere for 2 additional performers, we then created a basic design with a brick arch way in the center with two lower platforms to either side, with one having a staircase access from the stage.  This was all designed and scenic painted by the team at S.E.C and built onsite at the venue by S.E.C & the Gruesome production team.

In addition, we also created several projected assets which involved the recording of live footage and turning it into a moving portrait.

Assisted in the creation of the costumes working closely with the team to ensure ages of the costumes and the steampunk elements were applied as directed.

Assisted in the shows lighting design.

 

Gruesome opened at the Stoke Repertory theatre in October 2023 and currently has plans to return in the near future.
