Scream Effects Co were approached By Scream Camp to recreate a mask they had previously had for their character of Scarecrow for the retreat and overnight immersive theatre scare experience.

Scream Effects Co worked closely with scream camp to ensure that the deadline was met for this very short turnaround with only 7 days until the mask was needed for the last few events of their season.  The mask had previously been made by someone else but unfortunately the original mask had been stolen so no physical reference could be obtained.

The mask was created using an Air soft mask as a base this was then padded out to create a more uniform and rounded shape using upholstery foam. hessian panels were added covering various key areas before a final cotton sheet was added on top. This was then lightly distressed and painted to match the reference photos. A hood section was also created using a mix of different cotton and hessian panels this was then attached to the top of the mask to create a full-face mask whilst allowing it to be flexible and breathable.

 

Although intended to be a replica slight modification were made at the request of scream camp due to the nature of the show being so up close to make the mask more movie quality with updated paint application and better coverage of eye holes.
